Receiving a 16 out of 20 from Gayot.com, Fruition is run by Chef Alex Seidel. This Cherry Creek restaurant has been selected as a top 10 restaurant in the United States. Fruition serves seasonal comfort foods in a charming yet small restaurant. The food at Fruition is created with an attention to detail and flavors. The flavors are bold yet perfectly crafted. The menu constantly changes yet stays fairly small, with less than 10 entrees to select from. When dining at Fruition, if the pan-roasted Alaskan Black Cod or the Maple Leaf Farm Duck Breast are on the menu, make sure to order at least one of the two.
For pizza, head to Cherry Creek’s Beau Jo’s. Located on South Colorado Boulevard, this restaurant serves deep-dish, thick crust pizzas that can be personalized with a vast list of ingredients. These enormous pies, known as Rocky Mountain-style pizzas, feature both traditional and gourmet ingredients, such as red-hot chicken, Hatch green chili and tofu. Diners recommend the honey wheat pizza crust. For those with a gluten intolerance, Beau Jo’s has a gluten free menu.
Barolo Grill received four and a half out of five stars from Citysearch.com. This Cherry Creek restaurant is located on East Sixth Avenue. The atmosphere of Barolo is warm and inviting, complete with a working fireplace and soft lighting. The restaurant serves northern Italian fare. Executive chef Brian Laird, who serves cuisine from the Piedmont and Tuscany regions, runs the kitchen. Much of the menu at Barolo Grill is prepared by using food from local farms and the restaurant works to limit its carbon footprint. When looking for hip and modern place to dine, look no further than Argyll, a gastro pub in Cherry Creek. According to Westword, Argyll is a Best New Restaurant in Denver in 2010. This restaurant, owned by Robert Thompson, serves incredible fare that includes both American and British flavors. In recent years, the neighborhood has undergone renovations and many pre-war houses have been replaced with modern single-family homes, townhouses and condos. Due to this, around Cherry Creek are a variety of architectural styles and there is no one theme that defines the neighborhood. There are two main neighborhoods in Cherry Creek; the more residential and Cherry Creek South, which is situated between Cherry Creek Drive North and 1st Avenue, and just north of that, Cherry Creek North.
While much of the United States has been experiencing a down market for the past few years, the Cherry Creek has begun to see signs of a turnaround. While the Cherry Creek area has many million-dollar plus houses available, this area has also seen an 8.2 percent increase in the sale of million-dollar plus houses since June 2009. The Cherry Creek neighborhood is filled with approximately two-thirds townhouses and one-third single-family homes. About 60 percent of the neighborhood is newer while the remaining 40 perfect are older bungalows.

In the past nine months, 48 condominiums have sold in the Cherry Creek area according to Trulia.com, making this the most active type of property on the market in Cherry Creek. On average, condos are selling for $232 per square feet, which is roughly $50 less per square feet than single-family homes. Condominiums have sold in Cherry Creek from $527,500 to $104,900. According to Trulia, there are currently 67 condominiums on the market in Cherry Creek.
On the high end of the scale, there is a newly constructed two bedroom, two-bath 2,957 square feet condo on Detroit Street, which is selling for $3,255,000. This southwestern facing corner unit condo features stunning views of the city and the mountains. The interior includes luxurious finishes and a walk-in pantry. The building features a 24-hour concierge and valet parking in a private underground parking garage. Due to its central location, this condo scored a 100 walking score, with all basic amenities, including schools, within walking distance.
A medium cost condo on the market in Cherry Creek is listed at around $450,000. Located on Madison Street are several newly constructed properties that fall into this price range. These two bedroom, two bathrooms condos are 1,240 square feet with high-end finishes, Bang & Olufsen smart wired, designer kitchen appliances and sound proof walls. They feature a walkout patio with gas hookups and one parking spot.
On the low end of the price scale, there are several condos in the $190,000 price range in Cherry Creek. Around this price range are several condos on Jackson Street. This gallery, located on East 2nd Avenue, has been described as a small museum, filled with masterpieces by some of most impressive blown glass artists in the world. The Artisan Center on East 3rd Avenue is a unique boutique, which features a variety of art pieces ranging from high-end pieces to inexpensive knickknacks. Everything at this store is described as art. At Creator Mundi, shoppers will find an art gallery filled with distinctive sacred art, literature and music. This gallery showcases pieces of inspirational and spiritual artwork. Cherry Creek Art Festival
The Cherry Creek Art Festival became an annual celebration of culinary, visual and performance arts back in 1990. This three-day event is described as Colorado’s signature cultural event and pulls in over 350,000 visitors each year. Occurring over the Fourth of July weekend, the Art Festival’s aim is to provide access to art and to support art education.
During the festival, visitors can expect to participate in a world-class celebration of the arts. This festival is free and provides individuals with a special opportunity to see, meet and talk with international acclaimed artists. In addition to the art, there is a plethora of fine cuisine available, special exhibits and artists demonstrations.
This nationally ranked and award winning art show occurs in the Cherry Creek North Shopping area from 2nd to 3rd Avenue and along the six streets between Clayton and Steele Streets. At the festival are 230 juried visual artists, 17 demonstration chefs, 22 culinary artists, 26 performing artists, 7 fitness instructors and 13 cultural pavilion presenters. Artists at the festival are selected because of their excellence in original and handcrafted work.
The artists at the festival are true talents in their various crafts. The artwork at the festival, from wood furniture, jewelry and paintings to glass blowings and whimsical art are unique, memorable and award winning. There are a variety of awards handed out to artists such as Best of Show, Juror’s Awards and Merit Awards. Pieces selected to be award winners tend to vary and have included photography, sculpture, metalworks and paintings.
Plan to bring the whole family to the Cherry Creek Art Festival. There are numerous interactive activities designed to entertain the entire family along with exciting performances. At Artivity Avenue, children can have a hands-on experience with a variety of arts and crafts. Civic and Business Information
The Cherry Creek Chamber of Commerce is involved in numerous associations and business improvements projects across the city. This organization was created in 1983 and plays an integral role in increasing the number of businesses located in Cherry Creek.
Beginning in 1990, the Chamber of Commerce provided a portion of the starting funds to the Cherry Creek Arts Festival to get this amazing festival off the ground. Ever since, the Chamber of Commerce has worked directly with the organizers of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival to help make this the number one arts festival in the United States.
In addition to the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, the Chamber of Commerce hosts the Taste of Cherry Creek. This annual festival highlights the culinary expertise of restaurants and chefs in Cherry Creek. Additionally, the Taste donates its profits to local charities.
To help continue developing the area of Cherry Creek, the Chamber of Commerce created the Cherry Creek Forum. This organization is responsible with bringing together leaders and business representatives from across the community to enhance the forward progress of Cherry Creek.
The Cherry Creek North Capital Improvement Organization works together to enhance the environment of the streetscape in Cherry Creek. Renovations include new pedestrian lighting, intersection improvement, street furniture, additional signage and landscaping. This project was the first capital improvement project in Cherry Creek in over 20 years. In addition to the aesthetic improvements, the organization initialed the project to install Smart Meters across the city. These Smart Meters will be installed by the end of 2010. These meters are wireless, solar powered meters that accept credit and debit cards.
The Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District was the first business improvement organization in Colorado. This organization provides service to property owners and merchants, improves grounds in the area and works to further promote the shopping and dining district of Cherry Creek North. This lively small business area is filled with owner run boutique shops, restaurants and high-end salons and the Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District aims to continue this growth. The organization works to support the 320 independently owned businesses located in Cherry Creek North. For example, recently the Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District proposed a garden district to help further increase customers coming to Cherry Creek North.
The Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association aims to promote, protect, enhance and preserve the character of the Cherry Creek North neighborhood. This association works to improve the quality of life of its residents, inform citizens of events and activities and increase involvement of citizens in the community. This organization has 12 board members and works directly with elected city officials and local business owners to maintain the integrity of Cherry Creek North, specifically by addressing traffic issues, infrastructure concerns and threats to quality of life. Members of the Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association can participate in resident assemblies to discuss major projects that may affect the community, be members of the public safety committee and participate in the general resident and police meetings.
History of Cherry Creek Denver
The area of Cherry Creek is known for being the home to Denver’s high society. This well-to-do neighborhood is filled with top-notch schools and some of the best shopping in the state. University Avenue and Colorado Boulevard establish the borders of Cherry Creek to the south and north and 6th Avenue to the east and Exposition to the west. This entire neighborhood was designed to be all-inclusive. Inhabitants do not need to leave to find shops, restaurants, a gym, grocery store or galleries.
Located throughout Cherry Creek are numerous gated communities and there is the ultra-exclusive Denver Country Club, which has an extremely long waiting list. The architecture of the neighborhood is an eclectic mix of Victorian style houses mixed with modern amenities.
For those individuals who like to get out and enjoy the sunshine, there is a 22-mile multiuse trail that extends through Cherry Creek, which is filled with skaters, runners and bikers during warmer months. Running through the neighborhood is the 64-mile long Cherry Creek tributary. This creek connects to the South Platte River.
The area of Cherry Creek first became popular after gold was discovered in the Cherry Creek in 1858 and 1859. This lead to a gold rush and a settlement of two communities, Cherry Creek and Auraria. By the 1860s, these two communities had combined into one single neighborhood around Denver.
The section of Cherry Creek North was first inhabited in the late 1800s when Edwin Harman purchased a 320-acre site that became known as the town of Harman. Around 1882, the town had a population of 500 people and continued to grow. In 1894, the area was official incorporated into the city of Denver. This mixed-use neighborhood still cherishes its rich history. Located around Cherry Creek North are the original Town Hall and the original Bromewell Elementary School.
Local Denver Attractions
Located less than two miles north of Cherry Creek is the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. This museum has exhibits, activities and programs designed to have visitors interested in the wonders of Colorado and the rest of the universe. These exhibits are designed to inspire curiosity and excitement. At the museum there are many ever-changing exhibits, a hands-on discovery zone, two Egyptian mummies, a health exposition and science exhibits featuring gems and minerals, information about North American Indian cultures and wildlife exhibits. There is also a planetarium and IMAX theatre. As of 2010, the museum costs $11 for adults and $6 for children under 18 and seniors.
At the Cherry Creek state park, individuals can play in an 880-acre reservoir and a vast park that is complete with green landscape, rolling hills and outdoor recreation facilities. Activities at Cherry Creek Park include camping, picnicking, horseback riding and hiking. The park features 12 miles of paved trails and 35 total miles of multi-use trails. During the winter, the trails in the park are perfect for cross-country skiing. For nature lovers, the park has a varied eco-system that attracts a variety of birds including red-tailed hawks, bald eagles, ferruginous hawks and northern harriers. At the Paint Horse Stables, visitors can rent horses to take out on trail rides throughout the park.
Just two miles from the center of Cherry Creek is the Denver Zoo. This zoo was founded in 1896 and is the most popular attraction in Denver. The mission of this 80-acre facility is to secure a better world for animals by increasing human understanding. The zoo aims to protect, honor, engage, empower, serve and honor both the animals and individuals visiting the zoo. At the zoo are over 3,500 different animals from more than 650 species. In addition to this, 188 species of animals at the zoo are considered threatened or endangered. Exotic animals at the zoo include black rhinos, vampire bats, king cobras, coral reef fish and amur leopards. As of 2010, during the summer the zoo costs $13 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for children. During the winter, the zoo costs $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for children.
Three and a half miles northwest from Cherry Creek is the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. This Tony-award winning theatre hosts Broadway shows, a graduate-level training school, community acting classes, rental facilities and live theatre. The aim of the theatre is to engage, excite and inspire both artists and the audience. While the center embraces the classics, it also strives to create new plays and musicals. For individuals who are interested in learning more about the performing arts than just sitting in the audience, the Denver Center offers backstage opportunities where individuals can go on backstage tours and learn about the inner workings of the center.
At the Denver Botanical Gardens, both children and adults can lose themselves in a world of sculptures, flowers and greenery. Located along York Street, the botanical gardens have a diverse variety of plants from around the world. When visiting the gardens, sign up for the one of the children or family programs. During the popular Moore in the Garden program, visitors learn about the gardens and the artwork created by Moore. The Botanical Gardens also hosts public lectures such as basic seed saving techniques and how to grow aquoaponics.
